Elite 4-Star LB Xavier Griffin had been waiting on Texas offer

By Published On: June 21, 2024

Texas football has its eyes on four-star linebacker, Xavier Griffin.

Griffin is one of the nation’s top 2026 linebackers out of Gainesville High School in Georgia, but he is originally from Alabama. He stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs around 210 pounds.

The four-star had already been on many other schools’ radar, but when he got the offer from Texas, Griffin showed nothing but gratitude.

“You can’t help but to love (Steve) Sarkisian,” Griffin said. “Xavier Worthy and Colin Simmons are two of my favorite players. Texas has a lot of history in the football world and they are now a part of the SEC, so I know they are going to compete even harder every year.”

Griffin was notified of his offer from the Longhorns’ defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach Pete Kwiatkowski.

“Coach Kwiatkowski called me after midnight on the 15th,” Griffin told Touchdown Texas. “One of the first few coaches that called. I was excited because I had been waiting on an offer from them.”

The rising junior is a 6-foot-4 Edge with a quick twitch, who can play sideline to sideline. The Alabama native is the true definition of a versatile linebacker prospect with his blend of size and athleticism to go along with his ability to make plays from the edge and off the ball. He feels his ability to get off blocks and close space are strengths of his game.
