Longhorns Boast Historical Winning Record Over Many SEC Opponents

AUSTIN — As July 1st nears, the excitement around Austin is continuing to grow as Texas is set to join the Southeastern Conference in less than one week. The Longhorns have been members of the Big 12 Conference since 1996 and before that the Southwestern Conference since 1915.
With the move to the SEC, Texas will be facing a whole new set of opponents. Some may be familiar former conference rivals such as Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Missouri from the Big 12 and Arkansas from the Southwestern Conference. However, the Horns will also face some more unfamiliar names in the coming seasons.
A look at the Horns’ record against SEC foes
While many may think the unfamiliarity with a specific opponent may hurt the Longhorns in the short term, Texas has an excellent record against its upcoming SEC competition.

The Longhorns have a winning record against every single SEC team except for Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, and South Carolina. The good news for Longhorn fans is that Texas travels to face Vanderbilt which will be one of their “easier” SEC contests. Texas is also set to host Mississippi State in their inaugural SEC match-up in Austin. With a potential win over Mississippi State, Texas would have a winning record over the Bulldogs.
Against the SEC’s toughest competition such as Alabama, Georgia, and LSU, Texas has a winning record over each of these programs: 8-2, 4-1, 9-8, respectively.
