Why Texas would love to have 5 Star WR Kaliq Lockett

Kaliq Lockett lives up to his hype as a five-star wide receiver.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound wide receiver from Sachse, Texas. He has made a name for himself in the world of recruiting. Lockett lit up box scores last season, totaling 1,300 yards and 11 touchdowns on only 59 receptions. Those totals average out to a stellar 22 yards a reception for the highly sought-after prospect.
There are many key factors to Lockett’s game, but his ability after the catch shines the brightest. He has incredibly shifty feet and can get around defenders. He also has good lateral movement, and he never wastes a motion. Everything about his game is very fluid.
Lockett is also a very athletic receiver. He comes down with contested balls like he is wide open and his ability to position his body correctly aids that. He is very adept at turning his body and using his shoulders to create separation. His hands are also an elite part of his game. It looks like he has stickum on his gloves the way he locates and holds onto the ball.
Route running is another strong suit for Lockett. His head fake confuses any defender and allows for separation to be created. His aforementioned fluidity keeps defenders guessing where he will go. Lockett also has a dangerous stop-and-go move. He can go from full speed to a complete stop and accelerate again. This ability to change gears so quickly makes it very hard to be consistently covered.
Big play ability is the last key piece of Lockett’s game. Kaliq Lockett will be a name to remember for many years to come.
Alabama, Florida State and Texas are some of the schools involved with Lockett at the moment.
