Trio of Longhorns Selected to Represent Texas at SEC Media Days

AUSTIN — SEC Media Days are set to begin next Monday, July 15th and run through Thursday, July 18th. Media Days signals the unofficial start of the college football season. With Texas entering the SEC, this year will be the Longhorns’ first official SEC Media Day appearance.
The four-day event will be held in Dallas, Texas at the Omni Hotel, and it will be the first time the Southeastern Conference has hosted their Media Days in the state of Texas. The SEC has recently been rotating the event to cities like Nashville and Atlanta from the usual Hoover, Ala. location. With the addition of Texas and Oklahoma to the sport’s best conference, it is only fitting that this year’s location is Dallas, home of the Red River Rivalry.
The Longhorns, led by Coach Steve Sarkisian, will start their portion of Media Days on Wednesday, July 17th at 12:45pm CST. They will share the podium with the Florida Gators, Alabama Crimson Tide, and the Mississippi St. Bulldogs.
Wednesday is expected to be the most popular day at the event because media members will have the ability to interview first-time incoming SEC head coaches, Steve Sarkisian, Kalen DeBoer, and Jeff Lebby. The media will also have a chance to chat with Florida’s Billy Napier who is expected to be on this year’s proverbial hot seat.
In addition to the coaches, Texas has named their three student-athletes who will also be attending the event:

Quinn Ewers
The junior quarterback’s name on this list does not come as a surprise. Ewers led the Horns to a College Football Playoff berth last season, and he is expected to be one of the top players in the country again in 2024. The Dallas native will be one of the top interviewees of the week as Ewers is expected to answer questions about transitioning into the SEC, Texas’ playoff chances, as well as his Heisman Trophy odds.

Kelvin Banks Jr.
The junior offensive lineman is most likely playing his final year in the Burnt Orange, and will attend his first SEC Media Days. Banks will be one of the top picks in next year’s NFL Draft, and will lead one of the nation’s best offensive line units this season.
Jahdae Barron
The fifth year defensive back will be the Longhorns only defensive player to make the journey to Dallas next week. Barron will be the face of the Longhorns secondary who really struggled last season. However, with many new additions Barron’s secondary will be one of the better DB units in the entire SEC. The Horns defensive back will also have NFL aspirations after this season, so expect this to be a talking point during his interview.
