Texas DB commit Caleb Chester feels Sarkisian building championship team

By Published On: July 29, 2024

Justin Allen is one of Texas’ top athletic trainers, and he recently put on a football exposure camp.

This camp was free and meant to give back to the Houston community affected by the recent hurricane. One of Allen’s longtime clients is class of 2025 Texas commit, Caleb Chester, who was in attendance.

While Chester didn’t compete at the camp, his presence was felt. Chester continually coached up the defensive backs during competition and had an eagle eye for minor improvements that needed to be made. This attention to detail is a trait you love to see in your cornerbacks.

Chester says he is ready to ‘hit the ground running’ and show everyone he belongs on the field in Austin.

“The drive to be great is something that you need to want,” Chester said. “You can’t just get up and have everything handed to you. I just want to be the best player that I can so that really motivates me to do what I do.”

When asked about the direction the team is heading and the culture that Sarkisian is building for the SEC, Chester’s answer will make many Longhorn fans excited.

“Championship team, You either want to be a part of it or you don’t,” said Chester. “They’ve been letting me know since they started recruiting me that I’m the guy that they want. If I can be a part of something great, why wouldn’t I.”

Chester is a very lanky cornerback. His speed allows him to keep stride with explosive receivers and his fluid hip motions allow him to stay attached at the hip. Chester’s athletic ability allows him to go up in 50/50 situations and disrupt plays.
