What 4-Star safety Zelus Hicks will bring to Austin

By Published On: September 12, 2024

The Longhorns have secured a verbal commitment from class of 2026 four-star safety, Zelus Hicks.

Hicks picked the Longhorns over 32 other schools.

The junior is 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds. He currently attends Carrolton High School in Georgia.

Hicks is a speedy prospect who hits feel like a brick wall. He is adept at blitzing, which is evident by his two sacks and six tackles for loss so far this season. Hicks is willing to omeet running backs in the hole.

Physicality and aggression are his strong suits, and they can be seen in his play. He appears to understand the game of football at an advanced level. He can diagnose plays easily and knows what is happening less than a second after the ball is snapped. His feet are always active, and he can change directions with surprising quickness. His ability to read an offense is a huge plus.

Hicks has a great build for the SEC. I already mentioned his height and weight, but he also possesses a large wingspan. This allows him to easily perform wrap-up tackles and disrupt passing plays. He also displays a great vertical that helps him go up for the ball.

Longhorn fans should be very excited about this physical defender.
