Longhorns Duo of Ewers and Bond Projected to be Best QB/WR Pairing

By Published On: June 28, 2024

AUSTIN — Quinn Ewers to Isaiah Bond will be a familiar phrase that all Longhorn fans will be accustomed to hearing throughout the 2024 season. As we countdown to kickoff, many national media outlets are already enamored with the Texas quarterback-wide receiver duo who have yet to play a single regular season snap together. With that said, On3 ranked the Ewers to Bond connection as the number one ranked Top QB/WR duo in the country.

Ewers is entering the 2024 season as one of the top quarterbacks in the entire country; he is also one of the Heisman Trophy front runners as well. The Longhorns’ signal-caller had a fantastic 2023 campaign which saw him take Texas to the College Football Playoff Semifinal game against the Washington Huskies. There is no doubt the reason for all the success last season stemmed from Coach Sarkisian’s offense.

Quinn had an amazing connection with NFL draftee Xavier Worthy last season. Worthy and Ewers had two years to grow their special connection, and because of that the Horns’ passing attack was one of the best in the nation in 2023. This year, however, is a completely different story as Worthy has moved onto the NFL and Ewers has yet to produce the same kind of chemistry with anyone else in the receiving room. But there’s no doubt it’s coming.

Because Ewers did not have a solid number one receiver on the roster, Coach Sarkisian turned to the transfer portal. There, he found and brought in star wideout Isaiah Bond from Alabama. Bond is a rising junior who had played two seasons with the Crimson Tide. He was quarterback Jalen Milroe’s favorite target last season as he notched 668 yards and four touchdowns.

Bond is also famous for making the thrilling, game-winning catch in the Iron Bowl as Alabama hung on to beat rival Auburn.

Bond is a super quick, flashy, and speedy target. He is a bonafide number one wide receiver who can change the game with his speed. Bond will most likely be Ewers’ favorite target during the 2024 season.

Even at Texas’ spring game this year, Ewers targeted Bond more frequently than any of the other receivers. While the chemistry was not there quite just yet, Bond and Ewers have had the entire summer to grow accustomed to each other’s games.

Watch out for the Quinn Ewers-to-Isaiah Bond connection for many touchdowns and big plays this upcoming season. When the pair gets moving, there will be no stopping the Texas offense!
