Texas 5-Star QB Commit to Miss Remainder of Senior Season

By Published On: September 15, 2025

AUSTIN — Texas 5-star quarterback commit, Dia Bell, announced on Instagram yesterday that he will be missing the remainder of his senior season with American Heritage High School due to a minor procedure.

Bell is currently rated as the No. 4 player overall in the nation and the No. 1 quarterback in the class. He’s been committed to the Longhorns for over a year now, with his commitment dating back to June of 2024.

Unfortunately, his time with American Heritage has now come to an end.

“I will not be playing for the rest of the 2025 season due to an unexpected, minor procedure that needs to be addressed,” Bell wrote on Instagram. “I am heartbroken and disappointed that I won’t be able to win another state championship with you all.”

Through two games this season, Bell has completed 63% of his passes for 540 yards and four touchdowns, while also not throwing any interceptions. It is very unfortunate that he will not get to finish the season and fill his stat sheet out.

But now it’s time to look ahead to the future, to his arrival in Austin.

“As disappointing as the ending of this chapter is for me, I am even more excited about being 100% healthy and starting the next chapter in Austin,” Bell wrote. “To my new family, my Longhorn family… see you all in January!”

We still do not know for sure what procedure he will undergo, but no matter what, taking this time away to address it will only allow him to recover and play better in the future, along with ensuring that he’ll be ready when the time comes.

Although he may be the best quarterback in the class, he may drop in the recruiting rankings, just due to the fact that he won’t be able to play, record stats, and continue to prove himself during his senior season. If he does drop, though, it shouldn’t be by too much, but if there is someone who stands out this year, the rankings could favor that player and drop Bell.

Until then, Longhorns fans can wait for his arrival in Austin in January, when he enrolls early. Fans can also check out his post on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DOmUTuSEhhW/?img_index=3&igsh=YTY5NXpteHd1emdx
